A superb 19thC framed Delft tile by De Porceleyne Fles, dated 1892, showing a view of the Oude Kerk (Old Church) in Delft itself.
This is a rare scene which is highly sought. For further reference to a similar one from 1890, please see page 192 of Rick Erikson’s book “Royal Delft – A Guide to De Porceleyne Fles”. There you will see that it is given a rarity value of 2 and a price indication of $1000.
It is a really good sized picture; the tile itself measures 8 by 6 inches (20,8 x 15 cm), including the original oak frame it is by 12 by 9.5 inches (30,5 x 24,15cm).
It is well marked to the reverse with the hallmarks of the Porceleyne Fles company, including the year code N for 1892.
Both the frame and the tile are in excellent condition. There are no chips or cracks to the tile but there is crazing that is commensurate with age.
